An hostel for SNCF

    • Client: SNEF, Espaces Ferroviaire
    • Prime Contactor: AREP
    • Surface area: 3 800 m² - Hostel - Terrace and car park
    • Delivery: 2008
The 120-room Marseille Saint-Charles SNCF staff hostel has been designed to accommodate on-board SNCF personnel.
Because it is in the city centre, great care has been taken with soundproofing and climate control in the individual rooms. On the city side, the façade overlooks Boulevard Voltaire and features a terrace as an extension to interior rest and relaxation areas. The difference of level between the Boulevard and SNCF premises has been used to create car parking facilities. This deliberately straightforward project reflects the company's dual aim of providing comfortable staff accommodation and of being an integral part of the city.
