A new extension for the Terminal 2

  • Client: Nice Côte d’Azur Airport
  • Project management: AREP; Agence Duthilleul; Paul Andreu (representative); Setec Bâtiment
  • Handover: 2017
The extension, a curved building on piles, is about 45 metres long and 30 metres wide and complements the existing Terminal 2.
AREP’s project creates retail surfaces spread out over two levels, which extend the departure lounge of Terminal 2. The first floor is on the same level as the existing Terminal 2 departure lounges and accommodates a large waiting area surrounded by retail outlets. This same space also acts as a circulation route for passengers boarding at the gates located on jetway 54. The second floor level is a mezzanine, which is independent from the existing terminal, and connects to the lower level via vertical circulations. It accommodates food and beverage outlets, secure waiting areas, and sanitary facilities. The façade facing the runway is mostly opaque and features a series of glazed strip windows fitted with horizontal shade screens that allow views of the outside from the mezzanine. The crescent-shaped skylight allows for vertical light to reach down the central concourse of the new building.
