A space redesigned for the comfort of the traveler: animated, readable and luminous

The signing of the station has undergone a complete overhaul to enhance the users' wayfinding experience in the inter-modal connections area.
Actions have been taken to improve indoor lighting and organise spatial relationships. The existing lamp posts have been relamped, routes to the platforms have been highlighted by LED floor-level lighting and LED strips have been inserted between the opalescent polycarbonate panels to light up the stairwell walls. The light-coloured ceilings and floors remain unchanged but the tiled walls were repainted in a matte, neutral colour to restore spatial consistency and to make coloured staiwells clearly and easily identifiable. The tympanums over the tiled staircases leading to the platforms were painted and the coloured stairwell walls bear wayfinding signs to the inter-modal connections area. Advertising displays were resized and three large-framed photographs by Cyril Delettre, relating to the architectural heritage in the surroundings of Paris-Austerlitz station, were overlayed onto some station walls.
