AREP South Asia, an AREP Group subsidiary, together with the French Development Agency (AFD), the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), and Vivapolis are organizing a workshop on urban resilience from 21 to 24 January 2019 in Bangkok.

This 4-day workshop on disaster risk management is intended for senior planners and technical managers working for local and national governments, NGOs or private sector companies in the fields of disaster risk management, urban development, heritage preservation, and environmental protection. It will bring together 20 experts from Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and Sri Lanka.

What are the appropriate disaster risk management policies?
How can risk-informed urban planning be implemented in Asian cities?
The main goals of the workshop are to enhance professional practices, provide tools and solutions to build better and safer cities in Asia, build a community of regional leaders, and exchange on how France and Asian countries integrate disaster risk mitigation into urban planning strategies and programmes.
