at our headquarters as part of the Bahrain-French Town Planning Initiative.
Christophe Chevallier, co-director of AREP's Urban Planning Division and in charge of the BFTPI project for AREP, has been leading this two-year project aimed at assessing the Kingdom's territory (800km²) and at defining its development and land-use planning strategy.Since last summer, we have been organising workshops in order to develop appropriate programming methods and tools, called "urban guidelines". These are intended for the project managers and local urban planning authorities that will supervise the urban development projects. The pilot project is currently underway. It concerns the remodelling of the waterfront, a 42km long coastline stretching from the Qal'at al-Bahrain fort to Muharraq via Manama. The studies were carried out jointly by Menighetti, the space programming specialist, and AREP Ville, our experts in urban
development, and pioneer a new model of sustainable urban development.
