Tram line 1 extension - 450 m

  • Client: NCA (Nice - Côte d'Azur)
  • Project management: Joint venture of INEXIA and AREP Ville (co-contractors)
  • Delivery: 2013
The new 450-metre track which spans the Paillon river required the construction of a new engineering structure.
The project aims to break the isolation of the Maccario district and to redevelop its public spaces as well as to create a  square in front of the Hôpital Pasteur stop and a cycle lane separated from the tram corridor by green spaces. The green tram corridor develops as a linear garden, ramifying through green spaces and connecting to newly created squares while providing a more comfortable pedestrian walkway. Lines of trees shelter the facades and create perspectives that draw the eye into the distance to the Observatory hill and the hospital chapel.
