This scientific complex is equipped with a powerful data processing centre along with a range of other activities: service activities, training and audio-visual activities, and a hotel and fitness centre.
Despite the highly diverse programme, however, it achieves formal unity in its block plan, which is reminiscent of a micro-processor. The dark terracotta squares on the façade, the gilded metal cladding on the gymnasium, and the glass encased services open to the public define the typologies of objects that naturally find their rightful place in this system. And while, in addition to its rigorous functionality, the image of the building projects the full extent of the institution's prestige and power, the image of the related omnipresent gardens running right down to the river testifies to the programme's genuine concern for environmental issues.
