A new RER station under the CNIT in Paris-La Défense: multiple connections in a dense and complex urban surrounding
CNIT Paris La Défense EOLE RER station is part of the project extending the existing RER line E (suburban express line) to the west and will be integrated into a multi-modal hub.
The station is laid out around a central platform and a large volume - 15 m high, 108 m long and 33 m wide - which extends into vaulted spaces to cover the 225-metre long platform. The platform is accessed by a mezzanine level whose overhanging volume provides passengers with 300 m² of retail outlets, services and access to connections and exits. The platforms are located more than 36 metres below ground level, underneath the A14 motorway, the metro lines and the RER line A. An escalator leads 25 metres back up to the west areaway. The materials used in the design of the station are concrete, timber and stainless steel. The station will be equipped both with LED lighting fixtures and sound-absorbing systems.
