The creation of a national museum of photography in China is fired by the political commitment to bring into existence a space dedicated to the photography industry, in Sichuan's capital, Chengdu.
(Sichuan is known for its landscapes that draw many Chinese amateur and professional photographers). The lines of the museum have been inspired by a photography technique which echoes the sky cartography techniques invented in China during the 6th century. The concept of the museum is based on the poetry and ambiguity of "dimensional passages” transposed in architecture and photography (transition from three-to-two-dimensional potential in Photography and from two-to-four-dimensional potential in Architecture). The front door of the museum is made of a solid material with seamless joints that absorbs the sounds of the city while its design asserts the place of photography in modern China.
