LA TOUR DES SPORTS FINALISTE DU MIPIM AWARD HANGZHOU SPORTS TOWER SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2019 MIPIM AWARDS

Hangzhou Sports Tower, a multisport training complex in Hangzhou, China, has been shortlisted alongside three other projects for the 2019 MIPIM Awards in the "Best Futura Mega Project " category.

What makes the building so original is that all of the sports facilities are stacked on eight levels. The ramp leading to the rooftop will offer sweeping views of the surroundings to the pedestrians making their way from the park to the top. The building is currently under construction and forms part of the various sports amenities (stadium, swimming pool, conference centre, office and commercial developments, etc.) of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Center, which will host the 2022 Asian Games.
Currently, the Chinese New Year celebrations mark the end of the first year of the three-year construction plan. The assembly of the tower's metal structure has started on the 58,000-square-metre plot, which has been divided into three zones, each one of them accommodating a distinct amenity (tower, hotel, velodrome) and featuring a distinct construction phasing. To ensure delivery in December 2020, more than 1500 workers will be working on site in a few months.
The winners of the MIPIM Awards will be announced at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on 14 March 2019.
