MOROCCO: INAUGURATION OF THE FIRST HIGH-SPEED RAIL LINE IN AFRICA

Share news
King Mohammed VI of Morocco and French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the Tangier-Casablanca high-speed rail line on Thursday 15 November 15.
This is the first high-speed rail line to be constructed in Africa and the result of a fruitful cooperation between the Office National des Chemins de Fer (Morocco's national rail operator) and a great number of French firms.  The Tangier-Moghogha train maintenance facility will be key to the success of high-speed rail in Morocco. Designed and built by a consortium comprising TGCC, SYSTRA and AREP, the facility can provide maintenance for 12 double-decker high-speed trains.

The train will have a top commercial speed of 320km/h and will connect Tangier to Casablanca with stops at Kenitra and Rabat stations.
