AREP FLUX ET MOBILITÉS ACCOMPANIES SBB ON GENEVA STATION

Share news
As part of the project to extend Geneva Cornavin station, the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has chosen AREP to carry out pedestrian flow studies and support them in their choices regarding flow management.

To support the development of cross-border conurbation from Lausanne to Annemasse, the rail offer must be considerably strengthened by 2030. This implies a major transformation of the railway infrastructure, and in particular the adaptation of stations. In Geneva, the option chosen is the creation of an underground station under the existing Cornavin station. This long-term intervention (more than ten years), carried out in phases, must ensure that quality commercial operations are maintained during the construction phase and after commissioning.
In this context, SBB has entrusted AREP with an expertise and support service specifically relating to pedestrian flows, interfacing with the project design and implementation tasks entrusted elsewhere.

The main objectives of the mandate are more precisely to assist the general planner in making choices relating to flow management and work planning, in order to maintain the functionalities of the station and the multimodal hub.
