AREP WINS THE BID FOR OVERALL DESIGN PROJECT FOR INTEGRATED TRANSPORTATION HUB OF BEIJING SUB-CENTER STATION
On the 26th March 2018, a consortium comprising of Beijing General Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., China Railway Design Corporation, China Architecture Design Group and AREP was formally awarded the bid in the “Overall Design Project for Integrated Transportation Hub of Beijing Sub-Center Station” (hereinafter referred to as “the Project”).
A formal ceremony to commemorate the Notification of the Award was held on 26th of March, at the premises of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intercity Railway Investment Co., Ltd. The Project is located in Yangtuo within the Beijing Sub-Center. It currently serves as the Primary Station for the Beijing-Tangshan Intercity Railway and the Beijing-Binhai Intercity Railway. It is also an important station connecting the intercity railway link from Beijing-Qinhuangdao Railway to Beijing Sub-Center suburban railway in downtown Beijing. The Project has a total planned site area of approximately 70 hectares, with a total floor area of 2.23 million square meters above ground and attracts a total investment value of approximately 20 billion Yuan.
Based on the station’s functional positioning, planning & layout and the associated rail transit conditions, the proposal will include overall planning and design for the Main Railway Station and its auxiliary facilities, the main body of the Metro Station, and the integrated architecture above the Metro Station; aiming to build a Station Hub far ahead of its time, by embracing state of the art advanced ideas and international standards. In addition, a comprehensive study of the urban areas within planning and design scope will be conducted to render an urban design proposal that echoes with the spatial structure of Beijing Sub-Center and highlights its regional features and landscape traits.
Upon its completion, the Project will emerge as the largest underground station transportation hub complex in China, and will also stand as the bridgehead connecting the Sub-Center with the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
