HUANG GUAN LAKE: AN ECOLOGICALLY SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN CHINA

AREP won the competition for the urban development of the new Center Activities Zone (CAZ), located within the Huang Guan lake site. AREP Group's diverse expertise in urban planning, urban space programming, pedestrian flow management and smart city development was key to the jury's choice.

AREP's project builds on the history, features, development, and symbolism of the site in order to put forward an ecologically sustainable and balanced development, able to support new forms of cultural and economic activities in the future. The 18km² site is located 15km east of the city of Chengdu. It stretches along the Longquan mountain chain to the north, and along the greenway as well as the old city of Longquanyi to the south.
