THE NEW LORIENT-BRETAGNE SUD STATION OPENS ITS DOORS

Share news
The new multimodal hub entered service on Thursday, 18 May 2017 in Brittany's third biggest conurbation. The new station is the centrepiece of the project aiming to revamp the district of Odyssée by 2030.
Situated to the south of the rail tracks, it opens onto the city centre while connecting the surrounding neighbourhoods via a timber footbridge. The really singular station building brings to mind an overturned hull clad in timber, fibre-reinforced concrete and glass. It stretches over 115 m and alludes to the city's shipbuilding tradition.
The official inauguration will take place on Saturday, 20 May 2017, and anticipates the arrival of the high-speed rail line that will allow a three-hour total travel time between Lorient and Paris.
